Lilith Fair and “Billionaire”

I’m just a little bit excited about Lilith Fair this Saturday, July 10th at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in Irvine, CA. Doors open at 2:30pm and I go on immediately after that, so get to the VILLAGE STAGE by 2:50pm, where I will be rocking out with my band for 30 glorious minutes. I’ve expressed my excitement via Bruno Mars and Travie McCoy’s hit song, “Billionaire.” Enjoy!

I have some EXTREMELY EXCITING NEWS to share with you…I’m performing at the Los Angeles Lilith Fair on Saturday July 10th!!! Artists such as Sarah McLachlan, Emmylou Harris, Miranda Lambert, The Weepies and Brandi Carlile are part of the lineup, so this is one of the most glorious honors I’ve ever received in my life. Thanks to Ourstage.com for holding the Lilith Contest - I was up against some pretty awesome talent and was just happy to finish among so many great acts. This win is such a surprise - I just can’t believe it! I WON I WON I WON!!!

After finishing in the top 20 on Ourstage.com, I was selected by a panel from Lilith Fair to perform at the Los Angeles show. Ummmm, this is kind of HUGE!!! I remember being 14 years old and thinking “Dammit, I wanna play at the Lilith Fair!” As it turns out, dreams do come true. Thanks to everyone who spent hours and days and months voting and getting me into that top 20 - you make my heart sing with delight and joy and dance around in little circles! “Jes and Friends” Summer Series

Hooray! It’s that time of year again - lemonade, slip ‘n slides, and barbeques - all the things that make summer great. And if you’d like to cool off while listening to some great live, indie acoustic music, join me and a new special guest every show, 1st and 3rd Thursdays at Cafe Muse in Hollywood. The show is free, the food is delicious, and we are kicking off the season with my friend and co-writer, Keith Varon! We’ve been writing up a storm lately, and we will share our tunes as well as do some sweet harmonizing for you this Thursday, June 3rd. The show always starts at 9pm sharp, and you can check my shows page for all details and special guests. Sweet New Dirty Filthy Remix

I had the good fortune of meeting hip-hop artist Gotham Green through our mutual friend, photographer Koury Angelo, on twitter this past winter, and we immediately began collaborating. He was working on his full-length album Haze Diaries Volume 3 with producer and world-class DJ, Quickie Mart, and they invited me to come and listen to what they were working on and perhaps sing on some stuff. I had already downloaded and loved Haze Diaries Volume 2, so I was excited to work with these guys. I ended up writing a couple hooks and laying the vocals down that day. Not bad for our first time meeting! After being blown away by both Gotham and Quickie Mart, I asked if they would take a stab at remixing my new song “Dirty Filthy Liar,” which I had just recorded solo at Sanctum Sound Studios in LA after winning 4 hours of studio time with them through super kick-ass music website, OurStage.com. They were down. A few days later, they had a rough sketch of what you’re about to hear worked out and it…sounded…amazing. Thank you, crazy social media world, for introducing me to two of the most talented up-and-coming artists out there. Our forces combined, we can make some crazy stuff happen. I’m excited.

Comin Atchoo, American Idol…

Powerfox and I have given ourselves a mission: to match American Idol’s weekly themes in an effort to have fun and sing songs together. This self-imposed assignment began when we magically posted “No Scrubs” by TLC just in time for R&B week. The week after that was Lennon/McCartney week, so we worked out some harmonies for the classic tune “Come Together.”

When we heard the theme for this week is the music of Elvis, we donned our purple sweatshirts and got to work. Here we are, showing a much softer (and awkwardly romantic) side.

Yay, it’s so exciting!!! The winning video response to my Loudly Talking Cell-Phone User Challenge is quite a masterpiece. Submitted by Leslie Applebaum and Phil Marzullo out of Chicago, this video ponders the age-old question, “Who is the #1 Jes Hudak fan?” Haha so maybe I was a little persuaded by the subject matter…but they really did an amazing job and clearly had a blast doing it. So Phil and Leslie, sit back and enjoy the fame that having your video posted on my website will most definitely bring you. Haha you’re both just so freaking awesome!!! I love you guys!!!

NYC Record Release May 4th!

Woohooooo!!! Come celebrate the release of my brand-new EP “National Holiday” with me and the rest of New York City on Tuesday May 4th at 8pm at the most glorious Rockwood Music Hall. Oh the fun we will have! Rockwood is located at 196 Allen Street on the lower east side of Manhattan, just south of Houston Street. I haven’t had an official record release for quite some time now, so this is going to be a very special show.
